The Role

Director of Youth and Community Services
London Borough of Islington
Salary - up to £110,000

At Islington, our vision of a fairer borough drives everything we do. We’re passionate about bridging the gap between our richest and poorest residents, and we’re not afraid to challenge the norm to make it happen. We’re working with partners and residents to create genuine and lasting change. We’re transforming the way we work and have ambitious plans for the future. If our vision inspires you, and you relish a challenge - then this is a great opportunity to join the senior leadership team of one of the most exciting and forward-thinking councils in London.

For this senior role you’ll lead a variety of universal, targeted and specialist services for young people. It’s about understanding their needs, and confidently putting steps in place to ensure they have fulfilling lives. Working with external partners, your priorities will be to enable outstanding play and youth provision for all, support vulnerable young people to get back on the right path, and to reduce youth crime and gang related activities for those at risk. This is a challenging role that requires inspirational and visionary leadership.

With your proven track record, you’ll keep us at the forefront of best practice, and always look for ways we can improve and innovate. Your sound judgement will inform effective, evidence-based decisions. You’ll also bring safeguarding experience, with a commitment to delivering tangible outcomes.

Join us, and help to make Islington a great borough for children to grow up in - where their voices are not only heard, but also influence everything we do.
