The Role

Head of Targeted Youth Support, Youth Offending and Integrated Gangs Service (up to 18 months FTC)
Salary: £74,130 - £90,210
Contract: Up to 18 months FTC (open to secondments)

At Islington, our vision of a fairer borough drives everything we do. We’re passionate about bridging the gap between our richest and poorest residents, and we’re not afraid to challenge the norm to make it happen. We’re working with partners and residents to create genuine and lasting change. We’re transforming the way we work and have ambitious plans for the future. If our vision inspires you, and you relish a challenge - then this is a great opportunity to join the senior leadership team of one of the most exciting and forward-thinking councils in London.

For this Head of Service role you will assist the Director of Youth and Community Services to lead a variety of universal, targeted and specialist services for young people. It’s about understanding their needs, and confidently putting steps in place to ensure they have fulfilling lives. Working with external partners, your priorities will be to reduce youth crime, prevent gang-related activities, and help vulnerable young people to get back on the right path. This is a challenging role but exciting and well supported.

We are very proud of the recent ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement for our Children’s Social Care and of the significant improvements that we have made in the national youth justice performance indicators in the past few years. With your proven track record you’ll keep us at the forefront of best practice and always look for ways we can improve, innovate and help our children achieve the best possible outcomes. Your sound judgement will inform effective, evidence-based decisions. You’ll also bring significant experience of Youth Offending Services as well as safeguarding experience, with a commitment to delivering tangible outcomes.

Join us and help to make Islington a great borough for children to grow up in - where their voices are not only heard, but also influence everything we do.
